Build / Design

Sparrow, based in Logan Square, is one of Chicago’s most highly regarded and notable salons, having received praise from Chicago Magazine, InStyle, The New York Times, Time Out Chicago and many, many others.

Owners Susan Flaga and Bathsheba Nemerovski approached Land and Sea Dept. principals Jon Martin and Robert McAdams to rework an existing space, housed in a 120 year-old building on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square.

Throughout the design process, McAdams referred to and utilized a number of the classical elements that existed in the space, and introduced modern aesthetic touches that balance and contemporize the overall feel of the space.

Martin and McAdams built and installed all of the various components themselves, resulting in a space that feels highly considered and designed, yet accessible, comfortable and warm.
